Help From My Sister

Post contributed by Leonard Phelps

I don’t know what I would do without my sister. She is so organized and helpful, and I am the exact opposite. She has always looked out for me, and given me good advice. I moved a few months ago, and it would have been a disaster without her. She helped me pack and organize, and then even recommended I go to to connect my wireless internet. I know she is busy with her own family, so it means a lot to me that she takes the time to help me out. We have always been close, and try to spend a lot of time together doing fun activities. Last week we had a spa day, and next week we are going to take her kids to an amusement park while her husband is away on business. I love my nephews, so to repay her for all her help I babysit for them so her and her husband can spend some time together. It’s nice to be able to do something for her since she does so much for me

Giveaway TIME & Review!!!

I had the pleasure to get to read a Poem book, for Mothers and Daughters . It was a very good, it made me laugh and smile as well as think too. A perfect Gift for Mothers day coming up For either your Mother or your Daughter. Be sure to pick up a copy for yourself . The book I'm talking about is called "B" by Sara Kay, Sara Kay has been performing poet since she was 14 years old. She is a founder and co=director of project V,O,I,C,E, ( Vocal Outreach into Creative Expression), Which encourages people to use spoken word poetry as a tool for personal and world understanding, and as a medium for vital expression, teaching poetry and self-expression at schools across the U.S.A. As a young teen hiding under the counter at the Bowery Poetry Club in Manhattans East Village, she soon shook off fears to take the stagger amidst poets at least a decade her senior and honed her poignant funny and powerful style.

A little snippet of a Q&A with Sara Kay:

Question: Are your parents poets? Did they influence your interest in poetry?

Sara Kay: "From kindergarten through fourth grade I bought my lunch to school with me every day. And everyday for those five years, one of my parents wrote me a poem and tucked it into my lunch box. It was usually on a colored piece of paper, folded in half They were short poems that were sort of Dr. Suess-y or Shel Silverstrin-esque. They made poetry something to look forward to. Each note was a story, a message, a secret, a rhyme, each note made me stop whatever I was doing and surrender to the surprise inside. I don't think either of them considers themselves poets, but they defiantly gave me a hunger(wink!) for poetry."

"B" is about mothers and Daughters and the wisdom and hope that is shared- and sometimes lost- between the two. Its a thank you note, love letter, wish ,promise, confession, and a secret all at once. With illustrations by Sophia Janowitz and dreamy endpapers, this sleek, blue volume will be passed between mothers and daughters and granddaughters for generations.

A snippet of the book: "So the first time she realizes that Wonder Woman isn't coming. I'll make sure she knows she doesn't have to wear the cape all by herself........"
"........But I want her to know that this world is made of sugar: it can crumble so easily, but don't be afraid to stick your tongue out and taste it."

Review & GIVEAWAY for My Memories (Digital Scrapbook)

Liz from Had this to sa about there unique site : The first version of My Memories Suite was released in 2007.

If you are like most people, you think of a scrapbook as a large, heavy book filled with newspaper clippings and old faded photographs of people who's names you can't remember. At StoryRock, we see scrapbooks in a whole different way.
Our memorable journey began in 1998 when we identified and developed a modern approach to scrapbooks, one that transcends the static boundaries of a traditional scrapbook with a digital, more dynamic stands on its own as a memory annual. Our CD and DVD yearbooks not only offer the familiar pictures and stories associated with the printed page, but also provide the added benefit of video, music and the interactivity of the Internet. This is not your daddy's yearbook.
Since our inception, we have consistently raised the bar of innovation to become the market leader in the digital yearbook arena. As a service-oriented company we are consistently driven to enhance our products and curriculums to keep pace with the expectations of our customers.
With our roots firmly established in the educational industry, we continue to diversify our technology and customer-first approach into other markets. Careful planning, industry research and strategic partnerships all play a part in StoryRock's ongoing success with memory-based products. It was a natural transition for our software development to take on the task of giving our customers an easy-to-use and fun-to-learn scrapbooking software program. That software product, the top-rated "MyMemories Suite" - now in it's third version - has been a great addition to the company portfolio!

We have a tradition on Fridays to get us back together from the busy work/school week with a family game night . The twins enjoy Candyland
The Colors and learning to take turns is great for our 4 year olds they enjoy it so much. They also think its so funny when we have to go back if we get the plum tree troll . Lots of laughs and smiles and its a good time to reconnect

And the oldest one enjoys Apple to Apples, Which is a hilarious game where you have the current player select a description card and the other players try to pick, from the cards in their hands, the Things that best match that description. The player with the description card then chooses the Thing that appeals most and awards the card to the player who played it. You have to receive 5 description cards to win . Believe me you will be rolling out of your chairs and your face will hurt with smiles when playing this game.

So what games will you be playing tonight with your family?
